CASHMERE CARE

 

Pilling on cashmere is not a sign of poor quality or a design fault. The pilling is a natural characteristic of the long fibers and can be easily removed using a cashmere comb. Avoid spilling precious cashmere pieces too often as this may result in holes.

 

Do not hang your cashmere garments up for storage. Fold them and store them in a drawer or a storage box. If you are having troubles with moths, put a few cedar balls in the drawer or box and the moths will stay away. We strongly recommend putting in an airtight vacuum bag.

 

You’ll need:

– Sink or plastic basin (two is ideal)

– Mild liquid detergent made for wool

– A clean towel

– A mesh drying rack

STEP 1

Fill your sinks with the liquid detergent and make sure that you do not wash it in water that is warmer than 30 degrees, briskly run your hand through the water to distribute the detergent.

STEP 2

Turn your cashmere inside-out before dunking it. Make sure to not pull, stretch or rub the fabric. Leave to soak for 5-10 minutes max.

STEP 3

Drain the sink and rinse your cashmere with cool water until the water rinses clear. Gently press the water out and place it lengthwise on a clean, dry bath towel. Roll up the towel and press with your palms to squeeze out excess water – do not wring or twist.
